Pros and cons of Hero Emblems app for iPhone and iPad

Hero Emblems app good for

I dont like JRPGs, I dont like games that require you to grind through levels and yet I love Hero Emblems. It is a fun Match 3 puzzler that has light RPG elements and a ton of content. Unlike a lot of JRPGs you are not annoyed by too much dialog. It has the right enough to drive the story and nothing else. You do need to grind a bit to work through the levels but not too much. With no IAP, ads or other crap this is perhaps one of the best casual gaming experiences on the App Store.
I cannot believe they saved my review that I wrote two years ago but was unable to publish before the hotel wifi went down. Here is what I wrote two years ago in my hotel room in Kentucky: RPG + Match 3 and no IAP. This is the game that Ive been waiting for. Four symbol on the board, repenting 4 different types of attack/support spell. The combination of different class with different emblem and skill rune is just fantastic. Love the story and smooth game play. There are few stressful element in this game, but not enough to stop me from rating it a 5 star! Here are the "troublesome" elements: 1. Coins are hard to come by, either you get a chest, or a gnome in battle to get quick cash, or you have to farm quite hard. 2. Chest key cannot be swapped with any tile on the board. 3. Special tiles doesnt react to each other. I personally would like to see this happening as to most match 3 games does that. However, this would represent a different element in the traditional match 3 game so I am fine with it. 4. Difficulty / story progression doesnt sync. This will cause many players to realize that they need to farm quite a bit before advancing to the next event. 5. You cannot play your own music while running this app, it will overwrite it with its own music. Aside from these points, I honestly dig this game. Also, I support taiwanese apps :)
Wow, this is a nice game. Worth every minutes playing. Maybe a bit repetitive, but awesome game anyway. Totally recommand it! Plus, the game is really stable on iOS9 and iPhone 6+, and have no ads!!! :) great job!
Love this game! From the tongue in cheek dialogues to the surprisingly challenging gameplay, from the whimsical art style to the deceptively engaging RPG layers... Hero Emblems effortlessly earns its place on any device. Heres hoping HeatPot will revisit this franchise!
Have racked up over 10 hours already playing this addicting game & like the rpg elements too.
Like a lot of other gamers, Im constantly looking for a decent mobile game to play during my commute and I always play for an hour or so then delete it. Most games in the App Store are just complete junk: in app purchases, free-to-play models where you have to watch an ad or share on social media to continue playing, or even force you to quit for the day unless you pay. This is the one Ive been looking for. I loved Puzzle Quest 1 & 2 when those where on the App Store, but this is even better. The special attacks and combos really make for fun combat and the team-based gameplay mechanics are very well done. I highly recommend this game!

Some bad moments

Have to grind way too much to defeat bosses. Needs nerfing bad.
Dont get me wrong, I love this type of games and I like a challenge, but this game is horrible when it comes to fairness and game balance. Be ready to grind. A lot. At some point, youll hit some serious brick wall where the odds are stacked against you. I have no problem trying over and over to find a solution, but like many other players, there are some level I got stuck on for 5 days until the game gave me a board good enough to survive the battles. Cute game, well coded, poorly designed and unfair. Avoid unless you like tedious games.
Was a great game then I beat the boss at the pirates nest and now there is nothing to do I assume it is a glitch because there are walkthroughs after this point will re rate to 4 star after fixed
This game is filled with offensive gender tropes and generally awful writing. Ultimately, it is a bad rip-off of Puzzle Quest. Dont buy this junk.
This is one of the most frustrating games Ive played on iOS. Wow this thing is cheap and cheesy. To even stand a chance you have to grind grind grind grind to get the better emblems. Bad balancing, and doesnt seem to have been playtested. Plays like every free to play game.
UPDATE: This is even more bizarre, there seems to be a theme of one of the characters (the healer) being a servant of God, and they make fun of her and make her out to be an idiot. Really? I am not one to believe in conspiracy theories and I dont believe there are legions of evil people trying to trash Christians at every chance, but this is kind of blatant and strange. When you add it up, it is just stupid - they have a kiddie game theme, the main character curses in very inappropriate settings and they have a character who is a "servant of God" who is always the one who they make fun of and treat like she is stupid. What is going on here? It is downright strange. Howard, the captain of the team curses non-stop! It is bizarrely out of place in such a juvenile setting. This is a cutesy match-3 rpg of sorts that is marred by its overly syrupy child-like animations and story-line and then it is filled with curse words that are inappropriate for young children. It is almost shocking because it is so out of place. Weird.
